Becoming Grounded

This year, one of our New Years resolutions for the both of us was to feed our soul. Whether it be stepping out of our comfort zone, or saying yes to something that we would normally say no to, we are trying to be more adventurous.

Our neighbouring town has a yoga studio called Parallel Yoga that had a Singing Bowl Restorative Yoga & Meditation Class. Hot tamale! Sign us up, our souls were hungry!!

Not knowing what to expect (we don’t even own a yoga mat!) we bought our tickets and had a month of anticipation to build.

Well the day came, and we chose not to consume wine prior since we wanted to have out chakras opened, and we trecked on over to the next town.

Walking in to our dimly lit studio, we were struck with enchantment! At the centre of the room was a display of all sizes of singing bowls, lit candles, salt lamps burning, and diffusers going. Needless to say, our jaws kind of dropped. In a circle of approximately 10, were beds made up for participants, with mats, blankets, yoga blocks and pillows.

As the class started, we both quickly realized that our teachers voice was the most soothing voice we had ever heard… We could have listened to her talk for days on end. She took us on a journey to meditation with the singing bowls being played, and her guiding us throughout.

Immediately as the bowls began to sing, the vibrations were felt throughout our bodies. We were on a journey to open our 7 chakras, and to ground ourselves. Of course everyone’s experience may be different, but in some moments we felt like we were in another world.

About 3/4 of the way through class, everyone had a bowl placed on them, on various parts of their body. It was amazing to feel the vibrations going through you, and to be able to experience this Tibetan tradition.

Our souls were fed! We felt so refreshed, energized, and like the negative energy had left our body during the class. Our journey continues to feed our soul, come along and enjoy it with us.
